There are lots of great deals on sweet romance books today! Some of them say they are part of the Black Friday deals and are listed under the Black Friday deals, but they don’t say it on the actual book page. I’ve included several that I found while perusing the deals on Amazon.

READING LIGHTS!!!! I stumbled across some deals on them, and I’m ALWAYS needing them so I added them here. From standing lights to neck lights, there are so many choices, I don’t know what to choose!

Nifty Knick-Knacks! Okay, okay. They’re not all knick-knacks, but they ARE all items that caught my eye.

Why Autumn is my Favorite Season

When I first started writing the Sugar Maple romance series, I knew that the first book would focus on a fall festival. As soon as I began writing, the story was there as well as the town, the characters, and more.

I’m not sure when autumn became my favorite season, but I know several reasons WHY it’s my favorite.

I’m not sure when autumn became my favorite season, but I know several reasons WHY it’s my favorite.

  1. IT’S BEAUTIFUL. The fall season is just simply gorgeous in Tennessee. The trees are a cacophony of bright colors. When I’m driving in the early morning, I love seeing the fog and smoke rising through the hills. It makes my heart ache from its beauty.
  2. THE SCENTS. The smells I associate with fall including cinnamon, wood smoke, cider, pumpkin spice, and more are just so intoxicating. Who doesn’t love them?
  3. THE WEATHER. I don’t know about where you live, but in Tennessee, summer can be hot and humid. The fall season, on the other hand, promises cooler, perfect (in my opinion) weather.
  4. THE CELEBRATIONS. The autumn season is full of celebrations. From fall festivals to Halloween’s trick-or-treating to Thanksgiving, there’s so much to see and do and enjoy in autumn.
  5. THE FOOD. What is more delicious than flavored coffees, sweet and spicy desserts, Turkey and dressing, and more? The seasonal food in autumn has a flavor all its own. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
  6. THE ANTICIPATION. Speaking of celebrations, autumn is the perfect lead-up to the Christmas season. What’s better than being right in the middle of your favorite season? Knowing that another fun and special holiday is just around the corner.
  7. A NEW BEGINNING. It may sound strange, but I’ve always looked at fall as a fresh start. I think that’s because every August heralds the beginning of school. I’ve also personally started many new endeavors in the autumn.

As you can see, I have several reasons for my own favorite season choice. What is your favorite season and why?

Christmas in July!

So during my last email newsletter, I asked my subscribers what their favorite Christmas in July traditions were. I got some great responses, including making Christmas decorations, watching Hallmark movies, and more!

One thing that really stuck out to me was shopping. Of course, I always love shopping! lol But I also like enjoying the Christmas holidays so getting some of my Christmas shopping done in July sound like a great new tradition for me!

Keeping that in mind, here are 10 items perfect for your Christmas list:

1. Rocketbook Fusion

I’ve never tried this item before, but I really want to! This notebook comes in two different sizes (Letter and Executive). It syncs with several different programs, such as Google Cloud, Evernote, Dropbox, etc. You just scan with your phone and upload. And, here’s the really neat part, the pages are reusable! You just wipe them down with a cloth and start over. Bye, endless pile of notebooks!

2. Beverage Refrigerator and Cooler

Ok, this one shows my laziness a bit! I would love to have a beverage refrigerator for a garage (when I get one!), my home office, or my reading nook. I hate trying to keep canned drinks cold in my regular refrigerator because they seem to take up so much room. Speaking of which, these are also perfect for dorm rooms. I had a mini-fridge in college, and I loved it!

3. Mr. Coffee BVMC-PO19B All-in-One At-Home Pour Over Coffee Maker

I’m a coffee fiend! In fact, I may or may not be drinking coffee right now. 😉 I’ve always heard that pour over coffee is the best, but I’ve never tried it. I’d love to experiment with this coffee maker while writing my next book.

4. A Luggage Set

I love to travel and explore. I’m hoping to add some readers and writers conferences to my list this year *fingers crossed.* But I always, always, always have problems packing. I just pack too much! So these luggage sets caught my eye. At that time of this posting, these luggage sets have a huge discount as part of Amazon Prime days. I have to admit, I’m tempted…

5. Instant Pot

I’d rather be writing! That’s my thought process 90% of the time that I’m cooking. On especially busy days, I’d love to have a instant pot to take care of the hard work for me. This Instant Pot is a 9-in-1 that includes a pressure cooker, slow cooker, yogurt maker, rice cooker, warmer, sterilizer, and more. It looks like a steal to me and has lots of reviews.

6. Kindle Paperwhite or Kindle Oasis

Don’t get me wrong, I love the feel of a good old-fashioned book, but I also love the ease and convenience of e-books! A Kindle Paperwhite or Kindle Oasis would be an amazing gift. The latest e-readers are so much more lightweight and the Oasis is waterproof! I haven’t updated my e-reader in a while so I’m definitely keeping my eye on these.

7. Blue Light Shield Computer Reading/Gaming Glasses

I spend a lot of time in front of a computer so I would love to try these glasses and see if they help!

8. iRobot Roomba

Again, I’d rather be writing! Well, that’s a bit of a fib. I find cleaning to be therapeutic so I like to clean everything and have it looking neat and fresh and organized. However, I also have allergies and sweeping can definitely give me a sneezing fit. That’s why the Roomba caught my eye. I’ve never had one, but I think it could be a great investment for me! lol

9. Jewelry Accessories

I don’t have a lot of jewelry and what I do have isn’t that expensive, but it has a lot of sentimental value. I would love either of these items to keep my jewelry looking nice and in good condition.

10. Clothes!

I love to be comfortable so I’m really picky when it comes to clothes. Here are some items that I’d like to try. I can just imagine myself snuggled up with a good book in front of a fire or dressing up for a Christmas party…. Ok, I need to get off here and start writing! lol

So, all in all, this is my Christmas wish list…. I mean shopping list! lol Good luck with yours!

Day 21: #CheckedOffChallenge

My eyelids were definitely drooping tonight! I worked on my newsletter much of the day and ended up finishing later than I had hoped. After supper, I relaxed on the couch, getting sleepier and sleepier.

I finally forced myself to get up and do my yoga practice. Boy, am I glad I did! It was a fun new workout, but challenging. My feet were killing me as I did some of the leg poses, but I felt like I was working muscles that are often overlooked.

In the end, I ended up feeling the burn in my arms and legs. With each day of practice, I’m getting more and more excited about how I will feel on Day 30! Wish me luck!

Uncategorized

Day 20: #CheckedOffChallenge

So, I’m not sure exactly when I first started noticing this, but… I can definitely feel a difference in my muscle tone. On top of that, I’ve received a couple of compliments over the last two days from family members. I think my yoga practice is making a difference!

It’s strange because I have found myself very hungry lately as well as thirsty (for water!). I’ve also been indulging in some not so healthy food (pizza and bacon anyone?), but that’s actually not SO unusual for me! lol

Anyway, I’ve noticed my clothes are fitting better, I feel stronger and healthier, and I’m able to hold poses longer! Not what I expected from such an enjoyable practice!

*These results are my own experience and should not be taken as medical advice for anyone else.

Day 19: #CheckedOffChallenge

I really liked the listening aspect of the yoga practice today. It think that listening, really listening, to others is something we could all work on. I sometimes find myself simply nodding and agreeing to others while my mind remains focused on work, writing, or something else. I’ve been practicing being a better listener to others.

But I also need to practice listening to myself. When I say that, I mean my body and what it needs. If my legs desperately need a break from sitting and a short walk, I need to listen. If my body needs more water, more time outside, more sleep, I need to listen. My body isn’t asking for these things out of self-indulgence. It NEEDS them to function to the best of its ability.

So from now on, I’m going to listen.
